Value Colleges Top 50 BadgeSaint Vincent College’s Master of Science in Management: Operational Excellence degree program has been named one of the Top 50 Best Value Online Master’s in Management Programs in the country, according to an announcement by Carrie Sealey-Morris, editor of Value Colleges.

This is the second ranking that the program has received in the past two years with the other being a ranking of best value of master’s in management regardless of format (including both online and traditional approaches).

“Value Colleges is committed to helping working adults and other non-traditional students find the programs that best meet their needs which are not only educational but financial as well,” commented Sealey-Morris. “We put a premium on online programs that provide a substantial return on investment either through strong reputation, affordable tuition or both. We measure value in educational quality, costs and employment opportunity.”

The list includes many prominent colleges and universities including the University of Virginia (1) and Duke University (2). Other institutions listed include MIT (6), Notre Dame (8), Northwestern (11), University of Michigan (14), Boston University (28), Catholic University (40) and Fordham (44).

“We are honored to be named to this prestigious ranking of master’s programs in management,” commented Dr. Michael J. Urick, assistant professor of management and operational excellence and director of the graduate degree program. “This is the second consecutive year we have been ranked and moved up five places among very prestigious institutions. This is an important recognition of the work of our faculty and their dedication to the program as well as the skills of our students and graduates.”

Value Colleges noted the usefulness of graduate degrees in management. “While many students are getting MBA degrees, a growing number are turning to master’s in management programs to build their leadership skills without the deep-dive into finance, economics and statistics that most MBAs require,” Sealey-Morris concluded.

In its published rankings, it was noted that Saint Vincent joins many other private, Catholic colleges and universities on the list.  “Clearly, the Catholic schools have learned something about maximizing value for their business graduates. An education in the Benedictine tradition, Saint Vincent emphasizes liberal education with spiritual and community responsibility in its programs. Saint Vincent offers a master of science in management degree specializing in Operational Excellence which focuses on organizational efficiency, waste reduction and employee motivation. For a private college, Saint Vincent’s per credit cost is a bargain that graduates will likely see repaid many times over.”

The program takes an innovative approach to exploring major issues facing managers in today’s turbulent business climate. “The Saint Vincent College MSMOE is innovative in its approach to supplementing formal learning with a hands-on approach that provides students the tools they need to minimize waste in their organizations while increasing quality, improving efficiency and fostering employee commitment,” Urick explained. “As such, the MSMOE defines management as focusing on three interrelated areas: people, organizations and processes. Faculty in the MSMOE include leaders in their respective areas and have experience as managers, executives, researchers, business owners and consultants. Graduates of the program have consistently reported being more effective in their jobs as well as being aggressively recruited by organizations who see proper management techniques crucial to improving their operations on the path to becoming truly excellent.”

MSMOE classes can be taken either virtually in which students log-in to class sessions and participate in discussions just as they would if they were face-to-face in the classroom, or more traditionally in which students physically attend class sessions.
