Professor Presents Drug Research at Legislative Caucus in Harrisburg

Ed Gainey and Dr. Eric KocianDr. Eric Kocian, right, assistant professor of criminology, law and society at Saint Vincent College, recently presented findings from research he and his students have conducted from interviews with addicts at various stages of recovery on the root causes of addiction and recovery to the Pennsylvania legislature’s Heroin, Opioid Prevention and Education (HOPE) Caucus, chaired by Rep. Ed Gainey, left. Kocian previously presented his initial findings to high-ranking FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officials as part of a task force investigation because of the prevalence of heroin use in Westmoreland County.
