Saint Vincent College Campus Ministry sponsored the 34th annual Sports Friendship Day for 160 guests with intellectual and developmental disabilities for a day of sports, crafts, karaoke and socializing on March 25. Some guests have attended the event 34 years in a row.
Nearly 500 students donated meals for the event so that guests and their families could share a meal at the end of the day. More than 250 students were registered to be buddies and engaged with guests throughout the day. Numerous clubs and organizations on campus also helped to make the event a success including Women in Business, Women in STEM and The Service Corps for Exceptional Children (SCEC). The Saint Vincent College March of the Bearcats marching band and Cheerleading club performed at the opening ceremony, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) helped set up the sports stations, The Gilbert and Sullivan Club ran a photo booth, Art Club offered face painting and the Swing Dance Club offered swing dance lessons.
