LATROBE, Pennsylvania ‑ Saint Vincent College announced that it will open a searchDP Harris for a new coach to lead its men’s basketball team.

Head coach D.P. Harris has accepted a position at St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Florida, and will not return for the 2019-20 season.

“We are grateful to Coach Harris for running a quality basketball program, being a great recruiter and always emphasizing the importance of academics with his team,” said Br. Norman Hipps, O.S.B., president of Saint Vincent College. “We will miss him, and we wish him well as he takes on a new challenge.”

The Bearcat men’s basketball team has had a long history of success, and is coming off a 22-5 season that saw the team finish first in the regular season standings in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference. Saint Vincent won four consecutive PAC Championships between 2013 and 2016, and has had three PAC Players of the Year in the past six seasons.

“Coach Harris has continued an outstanding tradition in men’s basketball at Saint Vincent, and we are eager to build on that foundation,” said athletic director Fr. Myron Kirsch, O.S.B., adding that the process for the search will be announced shortly.
