LATROBE, Pennsylvania – The Saint Vincent College LEARN speaker series will continue at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, with a presentation by Dr. Gail T. Fairhurst at the Fred M. Rogers Center.
Fairhurst, whose presentation will cover discursive leadership, is a Distinguished University Research Professor of Organizational Communication at the University of Cincinnati. She specializes in organizational and leadership communication processes, including those involving paradox, problem-centered leadership and framing.
She is the author of three books, including “Discursive Leadership: In Conversation with Leadership Psychology” and “The Power of Framing: Challenging the Language of Leadership,” which has recently been translated into Mandarin. Fairhurst has also published more than 90 articles and chapters in communication and management journals and books.
Fairhurst is a Fellow of the International Communication Association, Distinguished Scholar of the National Communication Association and a Fulbright Scholar. She has consulted with such firms as Proctor & Gamble, McDonald’s, Boeing, General Electric, State Farm Insurance, Kroger, Cincinnati Bell, the U.S. Air Force and many others.
Saint Vincent College’s LEARN (Listen, Evaluate, Analyze, Reflect and Navigate) was started in 2013 and features speakers on contemporary issues or personal growth. It works to prepare students for the world today.
