LATROBE, PA – The Saint Vincent College men’s and women’s track teams have each earned Academic Team Award honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2018-19 season.

The Bearcat women, under head coach Kevin Wanichko, finished the year with a 3.79 cumulative team grade point average to rank first in the nation among all NCAA Division III teams.

The Saint Vincent men, coached by Dr. Andrew Herr, placed among the top 10 in Division III with a team GPA of 3.53.

In all, 297 teams were honored by the association for their academics, including 284 women’s teams and 113 men’s programs. This is the first time that a Bearcat team was ranked number one in the nation.

Earlier this summer, seven members of the SVC women’s track team, along with nine members of the men’s team, were named to the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll.
