LATROBE, PA – Saint Vincent College will host an information session for prospective nursing and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) students from 8:30 a.m. - noon on Saturday, Sept. 28.
The Herbert W. Boyer School of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Computing’s STEM and Nursing Day will allow prospective students to interact with current students and faculty, view demonstrations, tour campus and more.
The day will begin with registration from 8:30 – 9 a.m. in the Fred M. Rogers Center, which will be followed by a welcome from college president Fr. Paul Taylor, O.S.B., and Dr. Stephen Jodis, dean of the Boyer School. The attendees will then be shuttled to the Sis and Herman Dupré Science Pavilion, where they will take part in a number of informational sessions and demonstrations.
Prospective students will have a chance to tour the Dupré Science Pavilion and its laboratory facilities, interact with current Boyer School students, explore the multitude of majors and academic offerings with Boyer faculty and staff, view a demonstration in the Angelo J. Taiani Planetarium and more. There will also be an informational session for parents on the admission and financial aid process, conducted by Saint Vincent College dean of admission Heather Kabala.
Following the myriad activities at the Dupré Science Pavilion, attendees and their families will have the opportunity to take a walking tour of the Saint Vincent campus before enjoying a complimentary lunch in the SVC Community Center Dining Hall. All attendees are also invited to attend the 1 p.m. Saint Vincent College football game against Carnegie Mellon University at Chuck Noll Field.
