LATROBE, PA – On Saturday, Nov. 9, the Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve at Saint Vincent College will host an educational workshop on maple sugaring from 10 a.m. – noon.
The workshop will be led by Fr. Lawrence Machia, O.S.B., assistant director of Saint Vincent College Campus Ministry and will be held in the Learning Center Barn. Fr. Lawrence will explore the history of maple sugaring and teach attendees how to make maple taffy. The Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve staff will also lead a hike through the Nature Reserve to explore the autumn trees.
A maple gift basket will be given away, while attendees will be treated to free cider.
The workshop, which will kick off a series of maple sugaring-themed programming at the Nature Reserve, is free and open to all ages.
