LATROBE, PA – Saint Vincent College’s Office of Multicultural Student Life is once again sponsoring the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration Poetry Competition, open to all current Saint Vincent College students.
Each student may submit up to two typed poems reflecting the theme “A tough mind and a tender heart.” Poems should be typed in a plain, unadorned font (e.g. Times New Roman) and submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 11:59 p.m., Monday, Jan. 13. No late entries will be accepted.
Designed to recognize and encourage student writing and multicultural awareness, the MLK Day Celebration Poetry Competition is sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Student Life as part of its goal to spread awareness and understanding of Dr. King’s vision.
First prize is a $100 shopping spree at the Saint Vincent College Bookstore, while second and third place winners will receive a $50 and $25 spree, respectively.
The winning poem will be read at the 2020 Saint Vincent College Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration Dinner on Monday, Jan. 20, in the Fred M. Rogers Center.
