LATROBE, PA – Due to current directives pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic, the dedication of the Dale P. Latimer Library and Verostko Center for the Arts at Saint Vincent College has been postponed.
At present, the College anticipates that dedication activities will be rescheduled for a later date.
Along with the dedication of the facility, the spring Threshold Lecture, which was to feature Douglas Dodds, senior curator at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, along with a panel discussion on the influence of Roman Verostko, have also been postponed.
“While extremely disappointing, the decision to postpone the dedication was obvious as the health and well-being of our guests is imperative,” said Andrew Julo, director and curator of the Verostko Center for the Arts. “We are excited for visitors to experience new exhibitions and explore our state-of-the art facility inside the Dale P. Latimer Library this fall.”
A major achievement of Saint Vincent College’s record-breaking Forward, Always Forward campaign, the Dale P. Latimer library is a 21st-century learning commons and technology hub that will leverage new technologies to enhance teaching and research capabilities. It is named in honor of Dale P. Latimer, the founder of R&L Development and longtime friend of Saint Vincent College.
The Verostko Center for the Arts is a modern exhibition space dedicated to the advancement and integration of the fine arts within the Saint Vincent College community. Located inside the Dale P. Latimer Library, the Verostko Center for the Arts cares for more than 4,000 objects ranging from ancient to contemporary in a variety of media that form the permanent art collections of Saint Vincent College and Archabbey in addition to hosting temporary exhibitions throughout the academic year presenting the work of emerging artists. The center is named in honor of Roman Verostko, former Benedictine monk of Saint Vincent Archabbey renowned as a pioneer in the area of algorithmic art.
