New Start Date for Fall 2020

by President | June 08, 2020
To the Saint Vincent College Community,

As we continue to prepare in earnest for the upcoming fall semester, we are making adjustments to the academic calendar.

Classes for the fall 2020 semester will begin on campus on Monday, August 17, two weeks earlier than our originally planned start date. Additionally, we will forgo fall break. Finals will be completed before Thanksgiving; at which time we will break until the beginning of our spring semester in January 2021.

These adjustments are a proactive measure to limit the number of times our students may be leaving on breaks and then returning to campus, as we implement best practices for the well-being of our campus community.

We know this earlier start date may cause interruptions and inconveniences. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we plan for the fall and do so by prioritizing the health and safety of our students, families, faculty, staff and administration.

We also recognize that this change creates a number of questions, especially relating to move-in day. At this time, we are working to finalize the plans for a staggered move-in procedure prior to August 17. More details relating to a new model of on-campus operations and how we are implementing the necessary guidelines to keep our campus safe and healthy will be shared in the coming weeks. Please continue to pay close attention to your SVC email, the SVC Portal and www.stvincent.edu for more information that will address the questions you may have.

You and your families are in my prayers and the prayers of the monastic community. We look forward to seeing you back on campus in August.

Looking forward, always forward,
Father Paul
