LATROBE, PA – Three Saint Vincent College education faculty members were selected to serve as the editorial team for Pennsylvania Teacher Educator, a peer-reviewed journal published by the Pennsylvania Association of Colleges and Teacher Educators (PAC-TE).
Father Philip Kanfush, O.S.B., C’96, S’99, will be the journal’s managing editor. Associate professor Dr. Tracy McNelly and assistant professor Dr. Dawn Turkovich, C’95, will be co-editors.
“We are proud that our colleagues have been selected to serve as the editorial team for the Pennsylvania Teacher Educator,” said Dr. Elaine Bennett, dean of the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. “Dr. McNelly, Dr. Turkovich and Father Philip will bring their tremendous expertise and skills to this significant professional service in support of the efforts of teacher educators in Pennsylvania.”
Founded in 1999, Pennsylvania Teacher Educator provides PAC-TE members and other educators with a venue for research. The editorial team’s responsibilities include screening submissions, assigning reviewers, overseeing peer reviews, supporting and communicating with authors, proofreading and scheduling. The team also holds workshops for aspiring authors to the journal.
“We are honored and excited to begin our journey as the new editorial team for Pennsylvania Teacher Educator,” McNelly said. “We look forward to fostering impactful scholarship, elevating the voices of teacher educators and creating a platform that inspires innovation and excellence in education throughout Pennsylvania and beyond.”
The Saint Vincent College faculty are taking over for an editorial team from Slippery Rock University and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. During the transition, both teams will work together to put out the fall 2025 issue.
“With our background in teacher education, academic publishing and reviewing, and managing large-scale projects, we are enthusiastic about contributing to the journal’s mission,” Turkovich said. “We feel that our combined professional experience aligns well with the responsibilities of those roles, and we are committed to maintaining the high standards that the journal represents.”
