Dr. Jeannine M. Pitas joined Saint Vincent's Department of English in 2022. She is a teacher, writer, scholar, journalist, Spanish-English translator and member of the editorial staff of Eulalia Books, Saint Vincent's in-house publishing company. Some of her recent work includes a book of poems, Or/And (Paraclete Press 2023), and 12 Latin American books translated or co-translated from Spanish and published by various small presses. Pitas is an advisor for the student literary magazine Generation and coordinates the annual James Ragan Poetry Contest.
Pitas volunteers for Hello Neighbor, a refugee resettlement agency in Pittsburgh, and enjoys hiking, singing, and traveling. She is originally from Buffalo and makes plenty of friends on campus by loudly and enthusiastically shouting, “Go Bills!”
