  • About Dr. Zachary Davis Ph.D.

Dr. Zachary G. Davis joined Saint Vincent College as Assistant Professor of Economics in 2016 after completing a Ph.D. in Economics at Purdue University. Dr. Davis’s dissertation focused on higher education policies and their effects on competition between universities. Specifically, he showed that lower tuition for in-state public university students and competition between public and private universities causes private universities to provide a larger discount to in-state students. In a separate chapter of his dissertation, he found that due to a policy change implemented in 2010 that relaxed eligibility requirements, for-profit universities have increased their amount of federal aid revenue by 4.5 percent. While at Purdue, Davis received the Robert W. Johnson Award for Distinguished Research Proposal on the effect that federal aid to veterans has on for-profit universities pricing and student recruitment strategies. He also taught Principles of Macroeconomics at Purdue, receiving the Distinguished and Outstanding teaching awards for those classes.Dr. Davis received his undergraduate degrees in 2006 from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he majored in Mathematics and Quantitative Economics.
