Dining FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where can I use a meal swipe/board meal?
A: Meal swipes are accepted in the mornings from 8 am – 10 am at the Barista, all day at the Shack, and all day at the Community Center. One meal swipe per day can be used at the Barista and one per day at the Shack.

Q: Where can I use Flex/Express?
A: Flex and Express can be used at any of the dining locations. Let the cashier know which you want to use.

Q: How can I check my balance?
A: You can stop by the Dining Office between 8:00 am – 4:30 pm or download the free GET app to view your balance anytime.

Q: How can I add more Flex?
A: Additional Flex cannot be purchased because it comes packaged with the meal plan. However, you can purchase Express Dollars. Express Dollars can be added at the Dining Office via cash, check, credit/debit or through the GET app. They are used the same as Flex, as a declining balance.
Express Dollars are a great option for all students, commuter or resident, to supplement a meal plan.
A 5% bonus is added to every purchase over $50. $50 is the minimum amount required for a student’s initial purchase.

Q: Do swipes/Flex/Express carry over?
A: All meal swipes and Flex expire at the end of each semester. Express runs through the academic year and will expire at the end of the spring semester.

Q: When do meals reset for the week?
A: If you have a weekly meal plan, meals per week reset between Saturday and Sunday at midnight.

Q: I have suggestions. Where can I offer feedback?
A: We love feedback! Leave your suggestions in person at the comment card station at the Shack or Community Center or click the link to our virtual comment card under our Important Links tab below. You can also scan our QR codes posted around the dining locations.

Q: I lost my SVC ID. What do I do?
A: The Public Safety Office issues SVC IDs. Head there to purchase a new ID card or request a temporary card. Then stop back in the Dining Office so we can load your meal plan onto your card.

Q: Can I bring a guest?
A: Yes! Guests are welcome to eat on campus.* Guests can pay for their meals with cash or credit/debit. You can also use a bonus meal, or Express Dollars for them to eat in the Community Center or purchase them an extra meal from the Shack.
*Following Campus Safety Guidelines. Subject to change.
If using credit/debit please stop and pay in the Dining Office.

Q: Where can I find what’s on the menu?
A: We have several ways to see what’s on the menu for the week! The menu is posted in Placid Hall outside of the Community Center, on a bulletin inside the Community Center, and it is available to view at any time on the FoodU app.

Q: Can I take food out of the dining hall?
A: The Community Center is all-you-care-to-eat but food cannot leave the dining hall, with the exception of the green box program. The Community Center features a to-go window to fulfill online orders placed on the GET App. Shack meals are packed as ready-to-go for your convenience.
