Graduate Admission Requirements

Admission to Saint Vincent’s graduate programs is competitive. We look for candidates who demonstrate strong academic performance, relevant experience, and a clear passion for their field of study. A compelling personal statement and strong letters of recommendation are also crucial, as they help us understand your unique perspective and potential contributions to our academic community.

Requirements and Application Process

Deadline: Saint Vincent College has a rolling admission policy. You will be notified of your acceptance shortly after we receive your application. The preferred deadline for applications is two weeks prior to the start of the semester.

Requirement Waiver: Saint Vincent College graduates applying to one of our graduate programs may have the recommendation letter requirement waived. Please consult your program advisor for details on how to waive this requirement.

 

Graduate Business Programs:

MS in Management: Operational Excellence

  • Completed SVC online application
  • A minimum overall GPA of 3.0. Applicants with a GPA below 3.0 may be considered for provisional acceptance.
  • Official transcripts (SVC graduates do not need to request transcripts)

Graduate Criminology Program

Direct Entry-MSN in Nursing (DE-MSN)

Application Requirements:

  • Completed SVC online application
  • A minimum overall GPA of 3.0. Applicants with a GPA below 3.0 may be considered for provisional acceptance.
  • Official transcripts (SVC graduates do not need to request transcripts)
  • Personal Statement
    • 500-word essay that states the applicant’s reasons for pursuing nursing study, what they expect from the DE-MSN program, and future career goals.

  • Three recommendation letters
    • Letters should be from a director or faculty member from the most recent academic program attended (if the applicant has been a student in the previous 5 years), a recent employer, and a person who can speak to the applicant’s professional work.

Provisional Acceptance

Students who don't meet regular admission requirements may be considered for provisional admission. Under this status:

  1. The student must maintain their program’s required GPA for their first three graduate courses (9 credits). Specific GPA requirement listed on individual program pages.
  2. If successful, the student will be reviewed for regular admission.
  3. Provisionally admitted students can take up to 9 credits and may qualify for financial aid.

 

Graduate Non-Degree Status

This status allows students to take graduate classes without joining a specific program. Key points:

  1. Useful for students who want to:
    • Take graduate classes without committing to a program
    • Start classes while finishing a full program application
  2. No program application or acceptance required
  3. No financial aid eligibility offered
  4. Up to 9 graduate credits allowed
