LATROBE, PA—On Thursday, Oct. 26, Saint Vincent College honored 40 women who have made an impact on its community as part of its year-long celebration of 40 years of coeducation enrollment. The full list of honorees, who were selected through a nomination process by the Saint Vincent College community, follows at the bottom of this release.
Thursday’s celebration took the form of a dinner, held at the Fred M. Rogers Center, located on the Saint Vincent College campus. The event included a welcome from Father Paul Taylor, O.S.B., C’87, S’91, Saint Vincent College president; remarks from Morgan Paris, C’16, institutional marketing manager and editor-in-chief of 1846: The Magazine of Saint Vincent College; a reading of the list of honorees; and special recognition for posthumous honorees. In addition, the evening included a panel discussion featuring Brother Norman Hipps, O.S.B., P’61, C’66, S’69; Father Earl Henry, O.S.B., P’55, C’60, S’64; and Alice Kaylor, which was moderated by Heather Albright, dean of admission and chair of the SVC Women’s Leadership Team, on the transition to coeducation. Aubrey Cintron, C’20, G’21, director of alumni relations, was the master of ceremonies.
The 40 honorees were selected from a pool of more than 200 nominations by a committee comprised of SVC faculty, staff, alumni and board members. Selections were made based on strong representation of the mission of Saint Vincent College, achievement and leadership in their field and service and impact on the College.
The 40 Women for 40 Years list is part of a larger project spearheaded by Paris and the 1846 staff. The full list, including a bio and photo for each nominee, will appear in the 1846 Women’s Issue, due out later this year. The issue will also highlight the work of current women students and illustrate the history of women at Saint Vincent.
The year-long celebration, planned by the College’s Women’s Leadership Team, was kicked off during Saint Vincent’s annual homecoming weekend on Sept. 17 with a Women’s Brunch. In addition to the dinner and the Women’s Issue of the College’s alumni magazine, the College will be hosting monthly special events for the campus community throughout the academic year.
