Evaluation for Admission to Saint Vincent College

ShapeAdmission to Saint Vincent College is competitive. As we look at your application, our foremost consideration will be your academic potential. We'll also look for indications of your academic and extracurricular achievement and for information that will help us evaluate your academic ability, character, and motivation.

Here are some of the things we'll consider when evaluating your application:

  • Your grade-point average
  • Your class ranking - if available
  • Your standardized test scores—SAT, ACT or CLT. (optional)

Requirements for Application and How to Apply

To be admitted to Saint Vincent College, you'll need to complete 16 academic units of secondary school work. These 16 units must include four units of English, at least three units of college preparatory mathematics, one unit of laboratory science, three units of social science and two units of a foreign language among five elective units. If your secondary school program differs significantly from the program we've described, please consult our office of Admission and Financial Aid.

To be considered for admission to Saint Vincent College, please submit the following:

  • Your completed application: SVC online app or the Common App
  • Your official high school transcript
  • SAT or ACT score OR *test-optional requirements (see below)
    • When taking college exams, enter SVC’s code to have scores automatically sent to us. SAT code: 2808 ACT code: 3686
    • Or send your test results electronically to admission@stvincent.edu
  • Letters of recommendation (optional)
    • Upload letters into online app
  • Essay or writing sample (optional)
    • Upload in application

Test Optional Applicant requirements:

Applicants who did not take the SAT/ACT may be required to submit one of the following items to aid in the application review process. Your recruitment manager will contact you via email and/or phone number provided on your application should one of these supplemental items be required. 

  • Personal statement of no more than 3 printed pages responding to the provided prompt:
    • Saint Vincent is a learning community based in academic rigor, service and personal/spiritual growth. How do you plan to contribute to our community during your time as a student? 
  • Virtual or in-person interview with admission staff member.

Program-Specific Requirements

Engineering: If you plan to major in engineering, you must have one unit of plane geometry, one unit of intermediate algebra, one unit of physics, and one-half unit of trigonometry in addition to the other requirements.

Music: If you intend to pursue a degree in music, you must audition for acceptance to that department. Contact the Office of Admission for more details.

Conditional Admission

Some students may be offered conditional admission to the College. This offer depends on successful completion of the 3-week Summer Bridge program before fall term enrollment. Conditional admission is only offered for traditional first-time freshmen students beginning in the fall term.

Early Enrollment

If you have an exceptional record, Saint Vincent College may allow you to begin your degree program after you’ve completed your junior year in high school. To be considered for this option, you should be in the upper tenth of your class and have the assurance that your high school will grant you a diploma after you’ve successfully completed one year of college. An interview with the Dean of Admission is required.

Deadlines

Rolling Admission: Saint Vincent has a rolling admission policy; we will notify you of our admission committee’s decision shortly after we’ve received all your credentials.

May 1: Saint Vincent will award financial aid based on your FAFSA results. To be considered for the PA State Grant, you must submit your FAFSA by the priority deadline of May 1. Other need-based programs offered through Saint Vincent funding may have earlier admission and FAFSA deadlines. Please check with the office of Admission and Financial Aid for other details.
