Academic Monitoring and Support Program
Saint Vincent College is committed to the education and graduation of its student athletes. Consistent with this commitment, academic support services are of primary importance. Program goals are:
- To assist each student-athlete to maintain good academic standing and make satisfactory progress toward the baccalaureate degree.
- To ensure that each student-athlete will graduate by the end of athletic eligibility.
- To promote the academic integrity of Saint Vincent College.
- To comply with all College policies and procedures and NCAA rules and regulations.
Types of Assistance Offered
Academic Monitoring and Support
Faculty are asked to submit information about all students’ class attendance, grades, class participation and academic progress to the Office of Student Academic Success. After a student-athlete signs a release form, the head coach will consult with the Athletic Liaison to monitor the student-athlete’s academic progress, including class attendance throughout the academic year. The coach will review progress reports with the student regularly, when needed. If a report reveals the student is in need of academic assistance, the student will be instructed to seek immediate support from the academic advisors in the Office of Student Academic Success, who provides structured academic support to student-athletes upon request.
Tutoring
The Office of Student Academic Success collects information from the academic departments each semester and coordinates the Tutorial Bulletin, which outlines subjects, times and location of tutoring services. All students can access the Tutorial Bulletin via the SVC Portal. Hard copies of the Tutorial Bulletin are distributed to all first-year students and are available to upper-level students upon request. Head coaches are also provided with a reference copy of the Tutorial Bulletin.
