Saint Vincent College Student Places Third in Women's USA Weightlifting 2022 National University Championships

LATROBE, PA – On Thursday, March 3, Amanda Serapiglia, junior biochemistry major from Trafford, competed in the Arnold Sports Festival’s USA Weightlifting Women’s 2022 National University Championships and won third place in her weight division.

The Arnold Sports Festival’s USA Weightlifting convened in Columbus, Ohio, where contestants participated in the 2022 National University Championships or the 2022 North American Open Series 1. In Olympic Weightlifting, contests are expected to complete the snatch and the clean and jerk. Depending on their weight class, the contestant’s performance in each event is totaled to create their overall score.

Serapiglia competed in the 49Kg weight class and scored a total of 132Kg, placing her in third place. To hone her weightlifting skills, she is an active member of the PFP Barbell Club of Pittsburgh and the East Coast Gold Weightlifting Team.
