LATROBE, PA – Thirty-two students from Saint Vincent College’s Alex G. McKenna School of Business, Economics and Government will take part in the 2020 ASUG Best Practices: SAP Business One virtual conference scheduled Oct. 27-29. The ASUG Best Practices: SAP Business One conference serves as an opportunity for the SAP Business One community to network with hundreds of professionals and companies from around the world while sharing experiences, best practices, resources, lessons learned and other beneficial information.
The SVC attendees are all enrolled in or have completed the College’s SAP Business One certification program under the guidance of Robert Markley, the Carpenter Technology-Latrobe Specialty Metals Sponsored Lecturer in the McKenna School. The students have all received hands-on experience and classroom training on the SAP Business One software, which is used globally and is one of the most popular management solutions in the business world.
“This conference gives our students the opportunity to learn and network with SAP Business One customers and partners from around the country,” stated Markley. “We look forward to speaking with these experts.”
Typically held as an in-person event, the 2020 ASUG Best Practices: SAP Business One conference will be held virtually because of restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s conference will feature a wide array of business and technology professionals from industries across North America. Among the list of topics to be discussed are managing transition to a digital business, the streamlining or automating of processes, building business intelligence, warehouse and supply chain management and managing and maximizing the security of business integrations and intelligence.
While the Saint Vincent College students will be immersed in the virtual presentations and programming throughout the three-day event, a group will also be showcased as they lead a panel entitled “Emerging Workforce with the SAP Business One Candidates of Saint Vincent College,” during which they will provide answers and opinions on an assortment of technical and workforce-related questions while demonstrating the skills, personality and approach to the workplace of young people about to enter the workforce.
In 2007, Saint Vincent College became one of the first schools in the SAP Business One University Alliance, which has since grown to include more than 3,500 colleges and universities from across 113 countries. The Saint Vincent SAP Business One program received worldwide recognition in Feb. 2018 with the release of a video promoting its success that was distributed to both colleges and business around the globe.
Since the SAP Business One certification program began at Saint Vincent College, more than 110 students have attended professional conferences, more than 80 have landed paid summer internships and 54 graduates currently work in the SAP ecosystem.
This year marks the 10th year in which Saint Vincent College students will take part in the annual conference, with previous, in-person conferences held in such locales as Orlando; Indianapolis; Orange County, California; and Austin, Texas.
