I. Scope and Purpose
No alcohol is permitted at any event unless prior permission is received from the appropriate representative at the College. All laws governing the purchase, distribution and consumption of alcohol must be obeyed. Under no circumstances is alcohol to be served to anyone under the age of 21. Cash bars are not permitted. Public Safety or appropriate Event Staff reserve the right to, a) shut down an event entirely; b) discontinue the dispensation of alcohol at the event; and/or c) remove any guest, who violates this policy or facilitates the violation of this policy by anyone.II. Non-Student EventsIn order to have alcohol served at an event on the campus of Saint Vincent College, the Request to Provide Alcohol form must be completed and submitted to the Director of Event and Conference Services for approval at least two weeks prior to the event date.
Supplying Alcohol
External
Saint Vincent College will not purchase or supply alcohol for events. Any alcohol at an event must be provided by the event organizer and served by trained and certified bartenders employed by Saint Vincent Dining Services.
- Food and non-alcoholic drinks must be present.
- All alcohol delivered to the Fred Rogers Center must be clearly labeled with name of organization and date of event.
- The bar must be closed one hour prior to the scheduled event end.
- If minors are invited to an event where alcohol is served, all attendees must be checked for valid identification, and everyone over 21 must be wrist-banded. (Event and Conference Services will provide wristbands).
- Bartenders will only serve one drink at a time and cash bars are not
- The purchaser of alcohol may not take remaining alcohol from Saint Vincent College premises until the day following the event. It must be picked up within 24 hours after the event. All unclaimed alcohol will be discarded.
Internal
- Saint Vincent College departments must work with Event Staff or Parkhurst Dining Services for bar service. Any alcohol at an event must be served by trained and certified bartenders* employed by Saint Vincent Dining Services. *fee associated
- Food and non-alcoholic drinks must be present.
- The bar must be closed one hour prior to the scheduled event end.
- Saint Vincent College departments will be responsible for the alcohol consumption charges.
Events Involving Student Attendees
- For student-only/student-sponsored events, alcohol is not permitted.
- If students are invited to an event where alcohol is served, the event planner (faculty or staff person only) must provide to each student a wristband as valid identification for under and over the age of 21.
- Bartenders will only serve one drink at a time and cash bars are not permitted.
- Any event inviting students at which alcohol is to be served must be monitored by a non-student event organizer who is over the age of21. The event organizer must remain at the event until the close of the event.
