- Campus and Student Life
Students living on campus must be registered for at least 12 credit hours each semester. All housing arrangements are made for one full academic year (fall and spring semesters) unless the student withdraws, graduates, or falls below 12 credit hours.
Students needing to live on campus who are registered for fewer than 12 credit hours must receive permission from the Dean of Students. In the event of extenuating circumstances, students wishing to move off-campus in the second semester may request to be released from their housing contract by the Dean of Students.
Students will be held to their full-year housing contract and billed for the second semester where they fail to receive written permission from the Dean of Students. Housing costs cannot be removed by the Business Office until the Dean of Students notifies the Business Office that the student has been released from their housing contract.
Every student residing in campus housing must have a college meal plan. There are several options available to meet students’ needs and schedules. Students will be asked to indicate their meal plan preference during the housing selection but may change their meal plan up through the second week of each semester.
Housing Applications
Housing applications for each academic year will be made available in April of each year. Saint Vincent uses an online system, eRezLife, for housing applications and selection. Each spring, all students will receive the Housing Newsletter from the Office of Residence Life regarding the application process for the next academic year via their Saint Vincent email. This information will include the selection schedule, housing rates, meal plan rates, and important deadlines such as the date applications are due and the deadline for special accommodation requests.
Residential Living Day
Residential Living Day gives you the opportunity to see all the residential halls before making your decision on where you wish to live for the upcoming year. Residence Life Staff will be located in each upper-class hall to assist you throughout the experience. Refreshments will be available in the lobbies. All halls will feature tours of residence rooms!
Housing Selection Day
Housing selection will take place online at the eRezLife and by cohort – Seniors, Juniors, and Sophomores. The dates and time slots for each cohort will be set out in advance of Housing Selection Day via email in the Housing Newsletter. With eRezLife you can choose your housing from any device anywhere you are online, so you do not need to physically be on campus, although we encourage you to coordinate with your roommate(s).
Students who plan to house with a roommate or roommates will be able to select a room based on the roommate with the best time slot. Students who have submitted their Housing Application online will receive a time slot from a randomly generated online lottery system. During that time slot, the student will be able to log in and select the room of their choice from the remaining available rooms. If you miss your time slot, you may not have the best selection due to other students accessing available rooms.
Each time slot will include 10-15 ticket numbers that will make a housing selection on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Students who plan to house with a roommate will be able to select a room based on the roommate with the highest ticket.
Fifth-Year Seniors and Graduate Students
Fifth-year seniors with full-time credits may select a lottery number with the current senior class but will not be given preference over other fourth-year students. These students will then select their rooms as any other student. Graduate students are not guaranteed housing and will not be accommodated until all undergrads are housed.
Freshmen and Transfer Students
Housing information will be provided to freshmen and transfer students during their enrollment process.
Students with Special Housing Needs
If you have a special housing need, you must contact the Dean of Students to discuss appropriate accommodations. Documentation outlining the medical need must be received by the deadline noted in the spring Housing Selection email. The College will do its best to provide accommodations when accompanied by the appropriate documentation and requested in a timely manner. Saint Vincent College cannot guarantee any housing accommodations. Housing accommodations must be made each academic year during the Housing Selection process and as directed in the Housing Selection email.
Doubles as Singles
Double occupancy rooms may not be reserved as a single at the time of housing selection. Students who do not have a roommate will be assigned one before classes begin in the fall. A guaranteed single is only available by signing up for a single in Wimmer Hall or a premium single in Bonaventure Hall.
Consolidation of Rooms
The College reserves the right to consolidate rooms should the need arise.
Any student living in a double occupancy room without a roommate and not paying the private room surcharge may not refuse a roommate assigned by the Office of Residence Life.
Waiting Lists
Any student who is unhappy with their room from lottery selection may get on a waiting list for a different space. Forms are available on eRezlife under resources. Students on the waiting list will be accommodated in lottery time order as space becomes available, usually in the summer. The waitlist is dissolved at the end of August.
Summer Storage
Saint Vincent College does not provide student storage space. Students should contact local companies for storage.
