The Latrobe/Greensburg Homeschool Science Fair returns

by Public Relations | February 20, 2024

LATROBE, PA – On Thursday, Feb. 1, Saint Vincent College chemistry professor Dr. Jason Vohs hosted the Latrobe/Greensburg Homeschool Science Fair. This was an annual event from 2011 to 2017, and after growing interest this year, Dr. Vohs brought it back.

Twenty children from the community presented projects in the Atrium of the Sis and Herman Dupré Science Pavilion on the Saint Vincent College campus from 6-8 p.m. SVC students from the Boyer School Science Clubs (Chemistry Club, Sri-Beta and Physics Club) served as judges for the competition. The Education Department’s STEP-UP Homeschool Program also played a substantial role in the event, promoting the fair to participants’ families.

“Saint Vincent has a long history of supporting Homeschooling families in our community,” said Dr. Vohs. “Many faculty homeschool and a number of homeschool families have sent their children to SVC for college. It was wonderful to partner with STEP-UP, and we look forward to many more years of the SVC Homeschool Science fair.”
